Medical/Genetic Diagnoses

We offer neuropsychological evaluations for youth with complex medical histories.

Neuropsychological evaluations involve detailed assessment of cognitive, social, and emotional/behavioral functioning. Assessment findings are integrated with information about brain-behavior relationships and development to identify strengths and vulnerabilities, provide diagnostic clarification, and tailor recommendations (e.g., interventions, school supports, etc.).

Goals of these evaluations may include:

  • Clarifying how a youth’s medical history relates to their functioning.

  • Monitoring progress during medical treatment.

  • Identifying changes in functioning following medical events.

  • Tracking the developmental impact of medical/genetic conditions.

 

 

Neuropsychological evaluations are the standard of care for many medical conditions, and Dr. Clawson works closely with medical teams to communicate assessment findings.

 

Dr. Clawson has experience with a variety of acquired and genetic conditions, such as:

  • Traumatic Brain Injury

  • Cancer/Brain Tumor

  • Cerebral Palsy

  • Stroke

  • Epilepsy

  • Genetic Conditions (e.g., neurofibromatosis, etc.)
